Abstract: BlackBerry has become a great phenomenon in Indonesia for the last 5 years. The number of users which reaches more than 1 million has made the device a new culture among the Indonesians. For some people, BlackBerry is an inseparable part of their lives and plays role as a symbol of modernity. This research aims to seek the meaning of BlackBerry for its users by applying Stuart Hall’s circuit of culture approach, which is focused on production, consumption, and identity.
